This Thursday 19th March we will be playing with wonderful wool as we wet felt, needle felt, wash and card some lovely floaty fleece to make all manner of things. Feel free to join us for some or part of the day at Amelia’s house in Jenna drive, just across from school.

Spring has in reality been pushing through early around here, but today marks the last official day of winter, so we bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Winter and look forward to the blossoming light filled days ahead.
Our Mr and Mrs Winter are needle felted from soft merino wool in it’s natural washed white, with accents from hints of pale dyed greens greys and blues. Mr Winter’s hat is a clear blue of the winter sky, which has seen hardly any clouds this year.
Winter weather clear and bright
sun will shine with soft clear light
frozen fingers, frozen toes
I’ll think I’ll hurry out to play before the sunlight goes…..
-adapted from a children’s song we learnt in Norway
Wattle with your golden suns
underneath the spotted gums
warm our hearts till springtime comes
with it’s sunny hours……
– from a children’s song often heard being sung in our classrooms
Enjoy the sunshine weaving its way back into our days 🙂
Spring is in the air, and Linda from dragonfly toys has donated some lovely shades of dyed carded wool perfect for some springtime projects. How about a wonderful nest like the one below, craftily needle felted by Diane with a few freshly felted baby blue eggs from our new stash.
Or did you notice the lovely water the mermaid was swimming in, and the sea blues and greens of her flowing hair?
A big THANK YOU to Linda and the Dragonfly team. Their craft supplies and toys are wonderful and you can find them locally (to us) at Organic Feast on William St. East Maitland.
Dragonfly toys – keeping the magic of childhood alive…
We have been extra busy this week crafting some tiny easter eggs in time for Easter. Here is a quick mini tutorial for those who missed out and would like to try – they are so easy and addictive!
Firstly we wet felted some coloured sheepswool with a little warm water and detergent rolling it around in our hands until they made little balls.
Then we rolled them a little more just in the middle to make them egg shaped, and left them to dry.
Lastly we needle felted some with a little more embellishments to make extra special tiny easter treasures. They are all about the size of a small solid chocolate egg.
All ready for a game of hide and seek, or a lovely treasure to gift to a special someone. How about felting some of your own design this Easter?
If you are running out of time to make your own, you might like to buy one or two at the front office. Just visit Wendy in the new improved school front office, and she will show you our craft display and items for sale.
Hoping for a little sunshine for the long weekend 🙂
It was a double week this week, with crafting on Thursday and Friday. Thursday saw us busily drafting the first two prototype eurythmy silks, with nervous hands cutting and guiding the slippery silk through the machines.
Friday was a day to let our hair down and get those creative ideas flowing at Jill’s place. Thanks Jill! Treasures of all kinds were made to fit snuggly into recycled wedding boxes. Here is just a sample of what we crafted.
More little crafts and digit dolls are planned for this Thursday as well as our machine sewing. We would love for you to join us. If you would like to take one home to do, drop in to collect supplies from 11.00 – 1.00 this Thursday in the new and improved stables. Or even just join us for a quick cuppa and a stickybeak.
Come and weave a little sunshine in your life.
As it is almost All Saints Day ( Nov 1st), we would like to share with you our St Francis Of Assisi, lovingly needle felted with inspiration from Marie of Soft Earth. He is standing alongside all our other needle felted treasures and crafts to be sold at the Linuwel School Spring Fair. Come along and enjoy the fun on Saturday 3rd November at 133 Morpeth rd East Maitland.
